Sept. 16-17, 2008: Montague Harbour Provincial Park on Galiano Island, in the heart of the southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia, is where we were to rendezvous with our friends Ralph and Nan.
We were surprised by the beautiful views from the walking trails around Gray Peninsula that Ralph introduced us to. The BC Parks web site says, “The white shell beach on the north side of the park marks one of several shell middens – evidence of native occupation dating back more than 3,000 years.” Archaeologists have found arrows, spearheads and stone carvings here.
Montague Harbour and Grays Peninsula were a photographer’s delight. We would have happily explored Montague for weeks, but a planned visit with friends in Victoria beckoned.
