Something Wild wildlife park is a private rehabilitation and conservation wildlife sanctuary for orphaned and injured animals. Included is a large sanctuary for endangered Tasmanian Devils. Only the birds are in cages. Pademelons live in areas where the fences are low enough for them to jump in and out. Inside they can find food and protection, and outside they can live in the wild when they are ready to do so. From the banks of the Tyenna River, we spotted a wild platypus numerous times, as it went about its routine of foraging for food. Three Koalas were either sleeping or munching eucalyptus leaves, close enough for us to have a good look at them. On the front paw, two digits are opposed to the other three, like a human’s thumb, so they are both able to be moved in opposition to the other three. Koalas are the only other animal, like humans, that have individual fingerprints.
